Blog #7
Chapter 7 from the BedFord Book of Genres comes into handy for those border-line plagiarism people that can accidentally bring their papers from a 98 to a 0 due to just one lack of detail. Everyone knows that when quotes are used, the credit is given to them either proceeding or following the quote. The same rule applies when paraphrasing and summarizing. It can be confusing when paraphrasing or summarizing another person's words when your own thoughts are also being intertwined. A great way to be sure that the credit is given is to integrate their name into the first or last sentence. Not only does it flow and sound nicer but it also saves our butts from that big fat zero and an F on our transcript. Chapter 7 also gives cute little transitional phrases to add into our papers with the speakers name without being so structured and monotone. I really enjoyed chapter seven with the little tips and tricks.
